Making the most out of your business using social media

Making the most out of your business using social media
By Toby Johnson Mr Jack Of All Trades

Telling your story is what makes people want to come to you over your competitors and  makes them look to you for advice or seek your products. The story format is especially powerful for sharing this information because human beings even in the internet age are hard-wired to listening to stories, story sale. social media is the perfect vehicle for telling stories and offers a global audience. Not only that but sites like  Facebook and Twitter make it easy for you to tell your story with pictures audio and video as well as text. But first you have to find the right story one that people are seeking one that will solve their pain, problem or fear. So you need to tell a story that demonstrates how you have solved a very similar pain, problem or fear. Tellling your story is one way you could go about relateing to your audience.

Some types of stories reach very deep into the american consciousness. Stories about 2nd chances, self made successes, hardworking newcomers who realize the american dream, and reinvention speak to very deeply held beliefs about who we are. Like a man I knew from japan whose uncle gave him a pair of nunchucks he used in a kung fu championship match he won. This man and his wife came to america and  opened a kung fu fighting school. His story of adaptation while retaining his roots has given him media coverage and positive exposure for his business.

Now you're probably wondering how this will relate or be useful to your social media or how you are going to reach this global audience. I will walk you thru the steps to making your google + google my business and google maps all match up with your facebook and twitter page for your business. This will make it so your store brand and the advice or service you provide can easily be found when someone googles you or something you sale. If someone searches for a service you provide they can find you thur this new door you have opened. Then I can show you how you can use yelp to get even more customers then you have now. Your phone and email will be full of new clients needing your advice or the services you provide. It will open a new door to your business one that people can walk into your business the door of social media.
If this sounds like something you would like to do or have a friend that this information could help then please leave a comment and send me a email so i can help you open this door.

1) Gutter Repair & Cleaning

Cleaning your gutters isn’t too hard, but climbing ladders and roofs poses certain hazards. Many homeowners choose to skip the risk altogether, and hire out the job. A handyman can also identify loose gutters, clogs, and other maintenance concerns that could potentially cause roof leaks.

2) Tile Installation            Image result for handyman project

If you’ve ever laid a tile floor or installed a backsplash in your kitchen or bathroom, you know that it’s easy to make mistakes and ruin the aesthetic appeal of your project. Tiling also often requires special tools. Skip the hassle altogether and delegate it to a professional.

3) PaintingImage result for handyman project

Painting is a huge project. Though most opt for DIY, it’s nice to turn the project over to an expert. Consider how much time you’ll save by letting someone else handle the taping, priming, trim work, and clean-up!

4) Deck Construction & RepairImage result for handyman project

Repairing a deck isn’t easy, and carpentry especially requires a certain level of craftsmanship and expertise. A team can quickly accomplish the repair or construction of a deck or patio. All you have to worry about is planning a fabulous backyard BBQ for your new outdoor space.

5) Electrical Wiring

It’s no surprise that electrical home improvements made our list of common handyman projects. Electrical wiring isn’t just complicated, it can also be extremely dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Electric shock and electrical fires are just two of the many risks associated with this non-DIY-friendly task.

6) Flooring

Carpet, laminate, and hardwood flooring installation requires specialized tools, not to mention that it’s time-consuming if you don’t know the tricks of the trade. While flooring installations are definitely possible to DIY, most homeowners pass the job along to a handyman.

7) Plumbing & Bathroom RemodelingImage result for handyman project

Some of us aren’t handy with a plunger, let alone with major plumbing maintenance issues. Almost everyone knows that when the drains get sluggish, it’s time to call in a technician who knows the ropes. The same goes for larger renovation projects. Whether you need a shower installed in your new master bathroom or a replacement faucet for your kitchen sink, the process goes much more smoothly with help from a professional.

8) Installing WindowsImage result for handyman project

Window installation is another project typically left to the experts.Windows need to be perfectly aligned so all the moving parts work, and well-sealed to keep everything in place. Investing in a great window installation can also help you save on energy bills during hot and cold seasons.

9) Drywall RepairImage result for handyman project

Patching a dent or a few nail holes is one thing, but what do you do when you need to replace significantly damaged drywall? If you don’t feel like mudding, taping, spackling, and touch-up painting, put it on your handyman projects list.

10) Renovation Demolition

We’ve all seen the home remodeling shows where homeowners take a sledgehammer to their walls to make room for new improvements. But before you go knocking down drywall, it might be best to sit down with a professional first. A professional can help plan the renovation to make sure you’re not damaging the structural integrity of your home, and give an estimate for the whole project.

11. HVAC filter replacements

Replacing your home’s HVAC air filters on a regular basis is a great way to keep your system operating at maximum efficiency, reduce indoor allergens and ensure proper air flow. Take the guesswork out of purchasing and replacing air filters by hiring a handyman to do the work for you.

12. Caulking

Adding a fresh application of caulk to gaps between windows, doors and siding is a great way to ensure your home’s exterior envelope is sealed tight and more energy efficient.

13. Concrete repairs

The natural freeze-thaw cycle in more temperate climates can take a toll on concrete sidewalks, steps, driveways and patios. Repairing cracked or crumbling concrete can prevent further damage or deterioration, make your home more aesthetically pleasing and safeguard walkway areas against possible tripping hazards.

14. Decks and porches

Over time, weather can take its toll on wooden decks and porches. Whether you’re dealing with faded paint or stain, cracked or splintered deck boards or trim or loose nails or screws, a handyman can make the improvements or repairs necessary to upgrade your deck or porch’s safety and appearance.

15. Gutter cleaning

Although it’s a simple enough task, cleaning gutters involves the dangerous prospect of climbing a ladder. More than 160,000 Americans each year visit the emergency room with ladder-related injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Avoid the risk of injury by hiring a professional handyman with the right equipment and experience for the task.

16. Home exterior repairs

If you have minor damage to your home’s exterior, such as a loose piece of siding, a missing shingle, or small holes or cracks in stucco, hiring a handyman to repair those items may prove to be more cost-effective than hiring a specialist. However, if there are larger sections of damage or the need for extensive repairs, a specialty contractor may be more appropriate.

17. Installing laminate flooring

Although prefabricated laminate flooring is promoted as project a homeowner can do themselves, the actual work may be more complicated. Common issues such as pre-existing moisture problems, uneven subflooring and complex areas such as corners may make the project more difficult than anticipated. Hiring a handyman with experience in laminate floor installations can relieve a homeowner of these frustrating problems and preserve some of the cost-savings from purchasing the product directly.

18. Paint preparations or touch-ups

Give small areas on your home's interior or exterior like trim, windows and doors a face-lift by hiring a handyman to add a fresh layer of paint or provide touch-ups. Prior to painting, a handyman’s repairs to damaged areas can also add extra durability to a home’s exterior. If a large-scale paint job is required, hiring a painting contractor may be more cost-effective.

19. Hanging window treatments

pictures and mirrors and installing TV wall mounts: These small tasks can be easily accomplished by a homeowner, but a hiring a handyman with the right tools and experience can help ensure these wall-mounted items are hung correctly without damage.
